About Us
Founded in 1998 in Hong Kong, SDA Marine now has offices in Hong Kong and the UK and works on a wide variety of marine archeology projects all over the world.
SDA Marine provided specialist advice to the Antiquities and Monuments Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government in drafting their guidelines and regulations for marine archeological investigation. These draft guidelines resulted in pioneering legislation passed in 1997 that makes Marine Archaeological Investigation compulsory for any project which disturbs the seabed. This activity might include land reclamation, cable laying, pipeline installation and sewage outfall construction.
Similar guidelines and legislation are being adopted by other national governments as they seek to protect their historical and cultural heritage.
